Over the last few years I’ve struggled a LOT with finding a business that I can commit to and turn a profit from and it’s really quite exhausting.
Why did I do it?
I’m writing this today in hopes that it will help someone who’s in the same situation I was in when I flipped around from business to business, wasting time, money and effort on things I shouldn’t have.
And I really don’t have a big epiphany answer about why I and other people do this.
I think for one we are chasing a dream of making big money quickly and easily. I’ll admit it, I loved the idea of getting rich overnight..
I wasn’t opposed to working hard in the least, but I was so focused on making the money and being this huge success and all the things I wanted that I don’t think over the whole time of flipping around businesses I never took much time to think about what it was that my potential customers or clients WANTED.
And that’s where I think I made a big mistake.
Business CAN’T be about the business owner, it has to be about the people you are trying to sell to… because they are the people with the money.
I was so determined to build a successful business and I wasn’t going to quit until I made that dream a reality, but if I had to take the time to continually look to bring those I was marketing to exactly what they wanted then I’d be much further along in my business right now. Don’t get me wrong, I make a full time income from the internet now and I absolutely love it, but I just think I had a few too many expensive ‘learning experiences’ as I went along.
So - if you’re building your business right now and are feeling frustrated about not making enough money - stop thinking about yourself and start thinking about what people want from you, then GIVE IT TO THEM. Of course this is just as much a reminder to myself as it is a lesson for you ![]()
If you’re wondering what changed for me and gave me the focus I needed to build a profitable business I can without doubt attribute it to having a group around me who were already making money online and were willing to share their experiences and advice with me, and even hire me as a Virtual Assistant!
That group was (and still is) Mom Masterminds. While you don’t have to be a mom to join, most of the women there are moms who understand what it’s like for a mom running a business online and that was a huge help for me.
starting a business is a challenging task to do. There are lots of things that you need to consider before you put your business into operation. Planning is the most important thing that you need to do first. if you have made a thorough plan in your business, I guess there’s a big possibility that you will become successful.
Trust me, I’ve been at this for a couple of years now, and I can’t count how many times I’ve failed. The reason is because I always put profits before people, and no matter how many times I fail, I just keep doing the same thing.
I totally agree that one must take the time to figure out what their people (clients) want or need, before jumping into a new project.
It is very difficult to find really what is your in the business. It’s better of course monitore market in order to know what is more necessary now, what people are need to
So true, Angela! I’ve spent the better part of a year flip-flopping around! There is just so much out there to learn and so many opportunities to try out, it’s hard to just settle down and focus on what needs to be done.
Congrats on making a full-time income online!
You should never give up. Only a few wuld find it frm the firs try. Keep on searching. And don’t loose faith
I totally agree. It’s so hard to choose the perfect business, mostly because it doesn’t exist! Recently I’ve switched from analysis mode to execution mode and it’s really making a huge difference in my profits. Just do it today because you won’t do it tomorrow!

February 2, 2008 @ 12:28 pmHi Angela, thanks for visiting my blog! Congratulations on being able to make a full-time income from the internet. I’m sure that is quite liberating in many ways.
I’m working on a couple of projects and hope to slowly transition to making profits and, ideally, making full-time profits. That’s why I read as much as possible from people who have found ways to make it possible.
