I recently found a new podcast, the Chickonomics Podcast, and as I listened there was a question that host Lisa Orrell asked her guest that really stood out to me.
“What is the best job you’ve ever had?”
It got me thinking back to when I was a teenager and I worked at this cute, little Ice Cream Shop in a little town called Jackson’s Point, located in Cottage Country here in Ontario. The whole outside and inside of the shop was painted pink, and inside was a jukebox that I and the other girls who worked there loved to play Johnny Cash’s ‘A Boy Named Sue’ on. That really was my most favorite job ever, hands down.
Why? And what does it have to do with being a VA?
Well there were a lot of things I liked about that job that I like about being a VA:
So, what was the best job you’ve ever had?

June 22, 2007 @ 11:55 amWe have something in common, Angela. My favorite job was also acquired while in my teens.
It was my first job working at Alexander’s (the now-defunct department store). I was hired as a sales associate at 15 year old, and I continued working there until after college and employment at a full-time, better paying gig.
I loved working there because it was retail (what woman doesn’t love being surrounded by clothes?), it was trendy to be there (all my friends who didn’t work there were jealous), the 30 percent discount was a bonus, and most of all, it was exciting to be young and making my own money.
Again, like you, the similarities between that and what I do now are vast. When you love your work, it shows in what you create. Working for myself and loving what I do is just like being 15 all over again.
